1st of all,I don’t wanna condone piracy, but I don’t understand why illegal filesharing seems to be much heavier targeted than other criminal offenses in the good ol’ US.
My personal opinion is that the multimedia industry owns the U.S. lawmakers, and that in order to get the neccessary funds for a next election campaign,US senators have to bend over and take it up in their *ss,resulting in such draconian witchhunts.
Piracy is bad,no doubt about that, but I would expect that the feds would have other priorities than having a UK youngster extradited to the US court…

I agree with you. The MPAA and co. s have a great many powerful lobbyists, and so murder, rape etc. become less important than who might be stealing a few $$$

This is bad indeed. This has been up in the media before where they tried to get someone for running a webpage and then linking to other things that where illegal. Of course this failed becaus this would have med all of internet illegal more or less. Just as the PIPA and SOPA had it’s protesters. No wonder googel, facebook and others where mad.

The problems in the U.S. is that they don’t go by the law, it’s more political and money driven things that in the end decides what kind of punishment you get. I have NO trust what so ever in U.S. LAWS. They just suck and they have a stupid system where they have over-the-top punishments in regard to the crimes.

It’s like that MADOFF guy, hi din’t kill anyone just stole money and still he go something like 90years in jail, should have been more like perhaps 15-20years. Talk about stupid people there are in america when it comes to the justice system.

Punishment doesn’t fit the so claimed crime but they don’t care what people like us think :frowning: how we’ve all lost our sovereign country’s to money mobs, big banks, etc.

It blows my mind that someone could be extradited to the US for running a website that simply linked to pirated content. All of which, isn’t even illegal under UK law (or US law for that matter, it seems).

Beware anyone that runs a website in any country! The MAFIAA and it’s US gov lackeys may try to kidnap you for putting up a hyperlink…

This is insanity.

I hope he asks for a jury trial . I would find not guilty.
Then he should sue the MPAA for malicious prosecution.

If you do some in depth research you may find that most U.S lawmakers are major stock holders in many of the company’s in the industry including insurance.

You are right about the article, but wrong about Madoff. He stole billions of dollars from people, including charities. Madoff deserves to be in jail for life.

I admit the US government is lobbied & far too influenced by money .

Our Congress is supposed to represent the people & many times they don’t

Instead taking what amounts to bribes called lobbying.

I feel OK in saying that since I am a US citizen .

I resent those of other countries making a post like yours’ .

You don’t need to trust US laws , say punishment is too harsh ,
stupid or suck. Much less call people in the USA stupid for allowing
the justice system they have.

I bet in Sweden which is your location the government is also influenced by money .
Unless you are saying no Swedish government official can be bribed (lobbied) .
I’m sure they are just like here.
If you think you can do something with your government then have Sweden cut
off all trade with the USA . Exile all US Embassies & US citizens . Don’t allow any US tourists .
Then no one in Sweden would ever be bothered by the USA .
I doubt you can’t do that so you are to your country like the majority of US citizens not able to
get the government to do much for them . Unless money is behind it.
