TYG02 vs TYG03

Whats the best DVD media out of TYG02 and TYG03 for older DVD writes like Pioneer DVR-109 and Sony AW-G170A?

Stats for Drives I have

DVR-109 - http://www.pioneer.eu/eur/products/archive/DVR-109/page.html

AW-G170A - http://www.sony-optiarc.us/products/archive/halfheight/dvdrw/ad7170asandawg170as.html

Many thanks in advance

Judging by the test burns I have of TYG02 and TYG03 in different drives, I’m not prepared to say that one is better than the other - they are about the same.

My oldest Pioneer is a DVR-111 however.

Yeah I figured from browsing the forums, it really depends on Burner (firmware to come extent) and media… Different media behaves differently in different burners.

I opt’ed for the TYG03 media since its x16 and my pioneer/sony drive was released after the dvdhs.com x16 burning standards were ineffect.

Also heard of layer issues with TYG02 some where on the forum. Figured go with modern dye used in TYG03 still in use today.

BTW - I love this forum, always interesting to know about the inner workings of things you take for granted. ie. media/burners. especially different media and error rates.

Yo darkage-

All my burners give superior burns on the Taiyo Yuden T02’s at 8x - I tried small cakeboxs of TYG02 and 03’s some time ago and was NOT impressed-eh!!

YMMV
