TY OEM = Value line?

I was thinking about getting some TY DVD-R TYG02’s as they are cheap on this site. Can’t get them at a lower price anywhere in Aus.

I was wondering though, as there are some for sale labeled as “top quality master discs” and others as OEM.

Here’s a link: http://www.pcx.com.au/products/detail.asp?sx=dvd-r,taiyo&item=895

Are the OEM’s value line TY?? Or just un-branded TY?

Value line discs are shrink wrapped, which is what these are.

As you can also see the so called master media is packaged in shrinkwrap as well
Example:

Ok so shrink wrapped = value line? I purchased these ones a while ago and they came in a spindle as you can see + 100 free CDRs

And these DVD-R would not be value line becuase they came in a sealed spindle? http://www.jpldisplays.com.au/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=23_25&products_id=390

I don’t know how to tell if it’s value line even if it comes in a spindle. All the TY I have purchased has worked great.

I know your not talking about Printable TY but just to note that Premium Line TY printable comes in 100 pack shrink wrapped.

The Silver TYG02 Printable I have came in 50 count cake packs.

They actually have some info on their site :stuck_out_tongue:

Looks like the OEMs are value line but who cares I guess. http://www.pcx.com.au/products/buyers_Taiyo.asp?i=1079&p=1079&g=416

Should I get the silver 600 carton or the inkjet ones?

Ok so shrink wrapped = value line?

Absolutely NOT. All TY is shrink-wrapped in 100-ct, and spindles in 50-ct. At least it is in the USA. Some dealers will sell 2 50-ct spindles wrapped together and call it 100-ct.

The last time I got TY 8x media from SVP in the UK, the 8x DVD+R white printable media was shrinkwrapped and the 8x DVD-R unbranded media was in 100pc TY-style cakeboxes.

I agree that shrinkwrap doesn’t mean that it’s value line.

I would say that guide on that site that compare’s TY’s should be disguarded with as the avg. is going to very between batch’s and dependant on what burner is used.

The shops selling OEM TY in Australia describe them as the discs that are sold to other rebadges e.g. TDK etc. I don’t believe these are the same as what the US gets as value line because:

  • ValueLine name name isn’t used ever in Australia
  • All discs seem to have full serial codes on them
  • 16x OEM range are sold as 16x, not 8x like they are in the US.

There are at least 3 online stores that sell TY OEM that I know of in oz, use http://www.staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=OEM+TY+DVD search engine if you want to find others.

Cool thanks for the help guys

:iagree: Same with my 8x +R printable ones - 100 discs in shrinkwrap.
