[qanda]This thread is about the Samsung TS-L632D. Click here to see full specs[/qanda]Hi:
I am new to this forum, however, I have read many of the previous threads and found very informative but not totally supporting the problem I am experiencing.
I have a Dell Inspiron E1505 with a TSSTcorp DVD+-RW TS-L632D installed.
I have Roxio ECDC 10 installed. I was having a problem with the DVD not burning in previous revisions and recently upgraded. I have had to uninstall several times due to the software not operating properly. I just recently tried to make back up DVDs and found the software indicating an I/O error when trying to perform the DVD burn.
I have windows XP SP3 installed. I just recently updated the firmware on the drive to the Dell DE04 version.
The dell bios is A17.
I have already tried removing the upper and lower filters as suggested in other posts.
Currently the drive will display in "My Computer" as DVD-RW Drive (E:)
If I put in an audio CD. The display will change to read CD drive and will recognize and play the music CDs.
If I put in a data cd the display will change to CD drive and display the contents.
If no disk is loaded, I can select the drive and it will not warn no CD is present, but will accept the selection and highlight the drive.
If a DVD is loaded, it will indicate no files are present on the disk.
PowerDVD will not make available the play movie as it appears to not recognize the DVD is loaded in the drive.
The device manager does not indicate a problem with the device and shows the device drivers are working without problems.
This is very frustrating as I seem to be going round in circles trying to resolve.
If anyone can offer some direction, guidance, or alternatives I would greatly appreciate it.
