recently when inseting the blank DVD ( r- ) into my DVDRW my DVD-RAM
drive goes into CD Drive mode . this happens after it reads the blank DVD.

Now on the right side of the screen it does show DVD-R.

when I go to record it fails.

All threads will be read.

I need to record my Movies !!!

That DVD writer show as CD after DVD is in is somewhat normal with WinXP.
If you want to copy DVD movie, is this copy of a commercial DVD or copy of your own video file?
If later, what type of file you try to copy to DVD?
Is it DVD compliant, or just DV type file downloaded from your camera?
What software (hardware) do you use for download and burn?

CDuncle, I’m recording a video file from DVDFAB to my Nero back up to disc,
I’ ve had no problem in the past. it just seems to be doing this lately.

The blandk discs I’m using the R minus. would I have less issues if I were to use the R plus Discs ? I’ve also used the Imation brnad discs with no problem.

I am using the LG brand internal writter, could this be the cause ?

please advise on this if you can.

Thanks,
pacaguy

If you did, it would probably be due to a better set of media, not just because you’re using +R instead of -R [usually].
I’ve also used the Imation brnad discs with no problem.
Imation uses different disc models, and markets them all as the same thing. If you switch back to them, you might have another issue. But you say you’re using Verbatim now, and it’s not working… Well, when we know what error you’re getting, we should be able to point you in the right direction.

What model LG DVD Writer?

What Nero program are you using?
Express, Recode or Burning ROM?
It is possible something went wrong with Nero file. What version of Nero you have?
Try to download ImgBurn(free) to make your DVD and see what happen.
DVD-R is better type for compatibility with older DVD players.
