Try switching to a type of media that’s known to be good (such as Taiyo Yuden) and see if you continue to have problems. Just because you have sporadic success with a certain type of media doesn’t mean that it’s not the problem.

any other ideas of what it might be? I think u are prolly right but I just went everywhere I could think of in my dinky town…Best Buy didnt have any good quality disk. I couldnt find one batch of any DVD media made in Japan. all in taiwan. So i would like to try whatever else I could before I take the risk of ordering em offline

and if I do have to order em offline…wheres a good place to order from?

Also…are Verbatim discs good?

anyone else have any feedback? It would be greatly appretiated.

Verbatims that are made in Taiwan should be good if you have access to those. You can try burning your current DVDs at a slower speed (maybe 8x) to see if you have better luck with them. From the log it looks like you’re burning at 16x, which might be more than the media can handle.

The Sony D21 discs should be fine, I’ve burned about 40 recently and the results are pretty good at 12x.

Verbatim +R is my favourite burned at 12x. The Made In Taiwan batches should be better than the Made in India.

thank u you guys. I will slow down my burn speeds and let u know how it worked

Okay…now Im really gonna sound like a newb. But…How do I slow my burn speeds heh blushes Im burning with DVD X Copy and theres no option to slow speeds.

Tybiggums,
I agree with all the assessments of you needing a media change. Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden. I suggest that you should stop depending on retail shelves and order online. A retail store’s decision to carry certain brands has nothing to do with both the proven reliability of a brand nor with your well being as a consumer. Rima.com is good for TY. Also, you could have Best Buy’s online store order Verbatims delivered to your town’s store for you because all the other BB’s in the US carry them. Sony media has been unreliable in it’s manufacturing for over a year and a half.

DVD structural protections & tricks have avanced dramatically in the last few years … leading me to my biggest issue with your problem. 321 Studio’s DVDXCopy XPRESS Version: 3.2.1. has not been updated since October 29, 2003. I am unaware of a version 5.0.0. I don’t know who got a hold of it, since 321 Studios was put out of business by the MPAA, or what changes they made. But both DXC Express and Platinum are not considered to be mainstream, quality softwares. It’s time to move on and get up to date backup software. I don’t think Express even allows you to control burn speed settings (as AZImmortal suggested) … does it?

Also, what are you using for decryption(?) … Express has been “ripper-free” since 2003.

Best regards,
Whisperer

what do u suggest I use? CloneDVD?

If I say “yes, I very much do” it will start a tirade of software suggestions. … but then, that’s the next wave of postings coming anyway…

Use AnyDVD for decryption.

Whisperer

As I remember, Express just default-burned at the “maximum” possible, ungoverned speed that the drives and media of the time would bear. 4X media was the norm, although 8X media and burners were on the horizon but still at least rare and pricey.

If you don’t want to pay for CloneDVD then DVD Shrink will do just as good a job and is still preferred by many. However it doesn’t have a burn engine in it so the free ImgBurn can then be used to burn.

I’m not starting a discussion as to what is best just pointing out some excellent apps that are free.

moneys not an issue. I had DVD43 and I loved it for decryption. Then I got Clonedvd and anydvd…the program suggested I get rid of DVD43 and using AnyDVD…for some reason though I get about halfway through and AnyDVD quits on my automatically and unexpectedly…I disabled my screensaveer…dont know if that has anything to do with it…worth a try though

on that movie i used dvdfab hd decrypter, shrink, and imgburn, with verbatim 16x dvds at 8x with no problems . those programs are all free. hope this helps. phil

The thing I liked about X Copy and Im now remembering after switching back to CloneDVD is that…X copy allowed me to compress my disc to fit to my DVD…I just went to use CloneDVD it read it or whatever, then when it went to burn…error message saying there was not enough room on my disc…how stupid is that.

Now I think I might just be giving up.

The whole point of CloneDVD is to compress the DVD to make it fit onto a single-layer DVD. Are you sure you’re not choosing no compression?

You are not using CloneDVD correctly.

Ok so now…I broke down and ordered Tayo Yuidens from www.rima.com aaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnnddddddddd!

DISC MEDIA ERROR!!!

I am sooo frustrated now…anymore ideas?

Im starting to think LiteOn has failed me, and I know I will NOT be purchasing another burner from them ever again.

Hi Tybiggums,

I do not own Clonedvd but did take advantage of the trial. 3 out of 4 times I would get media errors and it would ask to load another blank disc. I would use the blank disk that Clonedvd said was bad with other software that I have for creating dvd’s and had no problem, so go figure.
