I tried to flash DVD-RW Asus DRW-24b3st and something gone wrong. Now I can’t get drive to be recognized. It’s completely dead. Eject don’t response either.

I have make backup firmware before flash, but now I can’t write that backup firmware back to drive.

Can somebody help me?

Thank you.

Hello test29  , welcome to the forum!

So I’m moving your thread over to the ‘Asus / Pioneer Writer’ forum, there are more people that can help.

You should add more info, you need to state exactly what you did, what firmware file, what flasher program, etc.

Killing that drive is really hard. It is mediatek based ( and liteon clone ) so the tools for liteon works on it.

Do you power cycle the computer after flashing the drive ? is the drive recognized by bios ?

It’s maybe hard, but I succeeded.
I did following:

  1. Using EEPROM 6.2.0. utility I make backup of eeprom.
  2. Using Flash 6.0.1. utility I make backup of flash.
  3. Download c0deguys firmware ATAPI.iHAS524_A.BL2J.patched-fr-dl16-eos-scr.exe.
  4. Using flash utility I write that firmware I downloaded (I check option Update Boot Code).
  5. During flash my computer froze (I don’t know how or why).
  6. After restart dvd-rw is not recognized in windows or in bios - it’s like it is not connected, it’s completely dead, not responding on eject button or light flashes when computer is turned on).

I tried mtkflash and dosflash but both programs don’t see it.

Is it possible to flash it somehow or it is only good to trow it into trash.

You want to spend a little more time reading up before you crossflash. The ASUS DRW-24B3ST is a Lite-on B drive. You flashed it with the firmware for an A drive. I have seen mention that this may end up killing it. You checked “update boot code”. Not needed and not recommended and in this case another nail in the coffin. Please ask for help before you start?
