Though perhaps not entirely worthwhile (like buying a giant HDTV for a smallish bedroom) many people have grown to love a fancy new screen for both work and play. Samsung announced that it's currently manufacturing a line of transparent LCD monitors. Will these whiz-bang, see-through displays become the next big thing? I want to see what is on my monitor, not my cat walking behind it.
And today is the day I believe that Samsung, and by proxy all other LCD manufacturers, will greatly reduced the consumers carbon footprint
All LCD TV’s and monitors will, in future, greatly reduce power demands, and save us from our extravagant lifestyles.
Using ambient lighting for an LCD monitor … Samsung is absolutely visionary
I suspected that hell would freeze over before any company would consider using ambient lighting as the backlight for a LCD monitor.
90% power reduction is unbelievable
Good on you, Samsung

Hmmm… I suppose it depends on how attractive your cat is.
If this truly can cut power consumption by 90%, and the additional cost is mall, it would seem to be a no-brainer for anyone who is purchasing a new monitor. As far as the cat, let him/her go where he/she wants - they always do anyway.
Looking forward to seeing an in-person demo of these new LCD’s! It “sounds cool” but will your eyes appreciate it for long term use?
If someone wants to impress me with a new tech monitor, make one dust resistant.
Of course … everyone understands this is the april fools article, right?
