Hi and Welcome!
trying to find what would be best to move my real to real music to CD.
I am not sure what "real to real music means. Am I correct if I assume these are on audio tape?
If so, you might have a look at the tutorials of the Audacity project: http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Tutorials
Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net) is a powerful free recording tool.
Also have some vhs tape that I would llike to move to a DVD.
This is not so easily to accomplish. You need additional hardware, either a TV card with video in, or some piece of dedicated hardware (often called videograbber). The videos are then recorded to the HDD. Next step would be the conversion process, since DVD video requires a certain format (MPEG2). You should have a powerful computer for that.
The easiest way would be to use a combined VHS/DVD recorder. In that case, no computer is involved.
I may also mention, that commercial VHS tapes can’t be transferred that way without additional hardware because of the Macrovision protection that is used.
I have had trouble moving music on the computer to a CD. I get an error when burning the disk.
What error message exactly? Please provide additional information (my crystal ball needs some maintenance at the moment).
