I suppose the other questions are about overclocking (?). What exactly is it? How is it done and what does it accomplish? I don’t know much about computers at all, so would it be bad for me to give it a try on my laptop, even if I am a quick learner and love fiddling with things like this? What’re the risks?
I think I just want something to DO with this old thing besides sell it and buy a desktop computer.[/QUOTE]
overclocking or OC, it makes your PC run faster. Now a days you can make a PC run twice as fast, 100 percent OC, but that requires some fancy cooling sometimes. Getting 10-50 percent OC is pretty common on currently available computers. All OEM /dell, gateway, etc/ don’t support OC, most enthusists build their own PC.

As for your Laptop, you just have to search the web some more.
