Sean Byrne, with regards to your opinion, I see the delay of the hardware launch a bit differently.. You see, the players will face the same shortcomings the HDTV's faced when they were initially released.. The first obstacle is the pricing for the hardware.. Then the pricing for the software.. Like with anything new and expensive, the average Joe Consumer will not likely shell out any money for something thats still expensive when compared to the DVD format.. Ive seen DVD players in the $25 range and recorders in the $80 range.. When your acustomed to such low prices, you wont be tempted with the pricing of the new format.. Lastly, the different formats are going to confuse most novice consumers, which is not going to help the sales of either standard.. I think the delay to coincide with the software release is a good idea, since consumers will actually have titles to buy for the hardware.. This will give HD-DVD the edge as it will be out before BluRay which will get consumers acustomed to the HD-DVD format..
