Australian software developers have created a database called Torrent Tags that warns users for torrent files that are copyrighted. The database contains an overview of torrent files that have once been claimed by a copyright holder.

Yeah like that is going to scare the pirates…others will find a way to bypass their so called TorrentTags and we be back to square one again…

It sounds to me like more wishful thinking from the usual copyright mongerers. They probably know this won’t stop anyone from downloading anything, but it will give them more legal firepower to sue the hell out of everyone.

PS: Am I right to assume these are the same people who use bots to automatically create completely absurd DMCA takedown requests?

And we assume they are in the same Country to start with. Remember US laws don’t trump other Countries Sovereign laws.
