Get Lost Data Back when updating to iOS 8
The latest iOS 8 has come out and many Apple users choose to update to the latest version to have a try it. But recently I also received some e-mails from our customers that they come up some trouble when updating to iOS 8. Many people reflected that the upgrade did not go well and iPhone went into recovery mode so they had to restore the iPhone (which meant everything would be deleted).
Some customers turn to iFonebox for help. But when they used our software to scan their device, they will find that there is no data was recovered. The reason is that when you enter the recovery mode, all the data in your hard disk will be erased and could not be recovered any more.
So in order to avoid losing data when updating iOS version, you’d better make an iTunes or iCloud backup before you start upgrade.
If you fail to finish the upgrade and lost all the data in your iDevice unfortunately, here are two ways to help you recover your lost data.
The first one is Restore Backup from iTunes or iCloud.
Launch the iTunes on your computer and connect your device with your computer via USB cable. Then just choose “Restore Backup†and iTunes will start sync your backup file with your device.
This method would be the best choice to recover lost data. But it not allow you to preview the data before recovery and will also come up some trouble that cause you restore failed.
Then you could use the second method to help you extract your data in iTunes Backup. iFonebox will stand out with its function.
Install and launch iFonebox on your computer, then choose “Recover From iTunes Backup†as the recovery mode.
Then all the iTunes backup on your computer will display on the interface and it will ask you to choose the iTunes backup you want to extract. Select the one you need and click “Start Scan†to begin the scanning of your iTunes backup.
After a few minutes, all the data of your backup will be showed in the interface of the software. Then you could pick out these data you need and click “Recovery†button to restore them on your computer.
Notes: The second recovery method does not support to recover your data directly back to your device. You could restore them on your computer.
Good News: The updated version is coming soon which will support to transfer recovered iTunes Contacts and Notes directly back to your device.
