I start using nero 4 ver. long time ago.
For your question. Nero 9 is only Nero 8 Reloaded with more PlugIn’s included. When you already got all what you need in Nero 8, stay at 8.
The only thing to change to 9 is if you are using Nero 7. Buying Nero 8 make no sense.
Thank you spielberg,
Heck, I have version 8, which I feel was never finished.
I am not sure about version 9 have more plug ins, except maybe more than you can pay for.
They do keep pitching their own proprietary video add-ins/codecs.
I wrote to Nero support if there were any changes to the audio codecs. In particular, I asked about great open source codecs, specifically Ogg, FLAC and APE.
They told me that they do not include them or have any way for me to install them on my own as well as wanting to use a version of LAME for MP3 encoding.
To me that was a clincher.
There are many, many products that don’t do everything in one package, which are far more streamlined, flexible, faster, easier and a LOT MORE stable. Although their older Nero and Nero Express for CD/DVD writing (particularly data copies), are very good.
My favored audio codecs are FLAC and OGG. I usually listen to FLAC from my PC and Ogg, I use on my COWON D2 portable multimedia player (MP3 player). The COWON supports both FLAC and OGG, as well as Xvid and Divx for video. Incredible audio quality with 74 watts on the little thing.
