Thoughts on Imation media?

I bought a 100 spindal of Imation 52x 700MB CD-r media on sale a while back. I had an old LiteOn that burned them fine at 40x. Now, using my Pioneer DVR-A09XL, Nero goes up to 32x but burns fail unless I drop down to 24x.

I’m just curious what everyone thinks of Imation media in general. Here’s some info on my CD-Rs.

From CDR Media Code Indentifier v1.63:

ATIP: 97m 17s 06f
Disc Manufacturer: Moser Baer India Ltd.
Reflective layer: Dye (Short strategy; e.g. Phthalocyanine)
Media type: CD-Recordable
Recording Speeds: min. unknown - max. unknown
nominal Capacity: 702.83MB (79m 59s 74f / LBA: 359849)

Should be ok media, but the pioneer is a poor CD-writer. I think that is the problem.

I’ve burned hundreds of those without an issue. Great price when on sale at Target. As said, the Pioneer is a poor CD-writer. Consider going back to your Lite-On for CD duties, I use a Lite-On 52x.

I sold my LiteOn a few months ago, right before I bought the Pioneer. It was an LDW-811S and it never burned DVD-R or DVD+R media correctly. I tried multiple brands and multiple standalone players. They never played right, always crashing 80% through a movie. I got some guy to buy it for $55 on eBay a few months ago. Got my A09XL for $35 more.
