I have a new Dell 630i and to my surprise, no matter what I have done in the past, I cannot transfer .avi extended files to a DVD format and then actually burn the disc in the burner which came with the computer, namely the TSSTcorp DVD+-RW TS-H653F SCSI. I have tried different programs, different discs, etc. etc. and am actually on this forum in a different area getting excellent information from some real Techies (DELL told me that they don't handle software issues unless I want to pay for it with their "on call" people) to perhaps tweak the CMOS and working with the RAID functions, Filters, etc.
Now, I am in the graphics/media industry and I need to burn AVI's by transferring them first to a DVD format and then completing them by burning thus to a disc. Since I am not going to get a quick solution to this problem any time soon (because my newbie BIOS talent is pitifully poor and I am even worse at techie resolutions), and was going to buy an "external USB Supported Burner" anyway (mostly for wear and tear), I thought now would be the time to invest into one to perhaps use in the place of this internal drive burning disaster.
Therefore my newbie type question/s are threefold:
A. Will an external DVD drive work with say the program Convert X and actually burn/finish the DVD's for me?
B. Will this newly purchased drive utilize a different driver support/filter/whatever makes this run, so the drive will actually work?
C. What is the opinion here about the following potential purchase:
As always both your insight and your support here is greatly appreciated and as you can see, very needed.
