Thermal Lacquer?

I’m ordering some Taiyo Yuden DVD-R 50 PC cakebox soon but there thermal lacquer? What’s that? and does it work on certain drives or all around?

im not 100percent sure, but im reasonably sure that it’s the same thing as the other stuff they sell it just dont have any labeling or anything on top of the disc…

the ones i ordered from RIMA.COM where 5 dollars more but included a white printable surface on them… probably a good idea to have for writing on it with a marker etc and provides decent protection from scratches etc.

im pretty sure there the exact same disc but just a shinny surface…

the ones i ordered are here… http://www.rima.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=R&Product_Code=1760-100&Category_Code=TAIYOYUDEN … thats what i recently ordered… here is ones i think your talking about… http://www.rima.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=R&Product_Code=1736-100&Category_Code=DMRTY

im pretty sure there the exact same disc but like i said the cheaper ones (silver lacquer) are just shinny surface… basically no cover etc on it.

Thermal lacquer a.k.a. Silver Shiny, is necessary for thermal printers, which print directly on the disk, as compared to ink jets which need a white or matte silver surface on which to print. “Branded” disks are useless for either thermal or inkjet disk printers.
