Could somebody tell me where in UK you can buy genuine TY’s? Mainly in DVD+R format, probably in packs of 50 or more? reliable 8x is ok as I can’t burn more anyway.

#405

I used to buy my TY DVD+R 8x printable at http://www.svp.co.uk/, the only place, as far as I know, where you still could get these specific blank media. But I can’t find them there anymore, only the DVD+R 16x printable, here

#406

Is TY still the best media to archive? I do not hear much from this forum about best archival medias lately.

#407

Nothing has changed in that respect. So, yes you are still good to go.

#408

First off Welcome to the forum ekstaze

As Jesterrace has already said nothing has changed on TY media
being an excellent choice for using as archival media. :iagree:

#409

Can somebody spread some light to problem what TY CDR is best for archiving? Not DVDR, but CDR? Thank you.

#410

What do you all think about TY model DVD-RTY16WIPB?

I have a very good experience with Maxell & Verbatim Pastel branded TY CD-Rs. The bulk Taiyo Yuden/JVC CDs are also very decent.

#412

Ok, so im going to order some cd-rs to make some Dreamcast backups soon… and want to get good quality ones. I was thinking of either getting http://www.rima.com/prod/1160.html or these http://www.rima.com/prod/CD-R80HSS50.html , I want to get the second one because I defiantly don’t need more than 50 disc . but they are both basically the same discs right?, just the jvc ones have the jvc logo on them, but both are made by taiyo yuden right? Also either of those disc dont appear to be “frosted” so what should i use to label them, is using a sharpie still ok or should i get these http://www.rima.com/prod/1512.html

Taiyo Yuden’s media operations at the That’s Fukushima plant are currently suspended due to earthquake damage.

hi,
I recently bought 3 cakes of DVD Taiyo Yuden 8x from a private seller and I doubt if they are original or fake Taiyo.

I checked the code:

For the DVD- 8x(TYG02) the batch code is GG000260 (located on both sides of the DVD);

I found another code in the trasparent hub (1C716A203817GG): it is transparent but is perfectly readable;

Finally, a four-digit code is located only in the side not writable.

DVD+ 8x(YUDEN000 T02) also have 3 code and batch code is TG000041.

Finally, I added two picture of cakes DVD Taiyo.

What do you think about them?
and do you think are Taiyo DVD Professional or value?

Please, can anyone help me?

DVD+ 8x(YUDEN000 T02) also have 3 code and batch code is TG000041.
Also genuine.

and do you think are Taiyo DVD Professional or value?
I don’t know.

Hi DrageMester,
thanks for your quick reply…

But there are ways to understand if a dvd Taiyo is Value or Professional?

Finally, what is the difference in quality between value and professional DVD Taiyo

[QUOTE=becca;2594520]But there are ways to understand if a dvd Taiyo is Value or Professional?

Finally, what is the difference in quality between value and professional DVD Taiyo[/QUOTE] I have never tried the Value Line, since I’m not interested in buying media that has failed internal testing at the factory.

Perhaps someone else can answer your question?

#418

If they are value line, their serial numbers will be overprinted, as ones I had before. Beside that, I didn’t notice any difference in quality (judged by quality tests and longetivity).

Hi,

can someone tell me how to understand if a dvd Taiyo is Professional or Value from the pictures that I attached?

I have attached another photos:

1)the dvd has 3 number code in the not writable side

2)the opposite side(writable side) have only one number code that it’s the same of the batch code located in the not writable side:

both are placed in the same identical direction

3)Finally I have attache 2 pictures of the dvd- 8x cake:

The cake has not indication about professional or value.

thanks in advance
