For those of you who don't understand danish, this means "no doubt about that".
You are right, but it still doesn't change my recommendations - although when I tell people to buy Verbatim media I usually add "but stay away from the Pearl Whites".
Since the Pearl White media is only available in Europe, and since the original poster Phat_cow is in Canada, I chose not to say anything about Pearl Whites so as not to add more confusion than necessary. Now my cunning plan has failed!
Regarding your comment that Taiyo Yuden 8x DVD-R is the best, I'll agree so far as to say it can be the best. But the TY 8x DVD+R can be just as good, and the TY 16x DVD+R can be just as good, and Verbatim 16x DVD+R can be just as good, and so on...
Don't think that Taiyo Yuden only produces perfect batches - I have had some TY of pretty "average" quality, I've even been forced to underspeed some TY 8x DVD+R media to 6x in order to avoid producing coasters because of a media flaw.
All that being said, my recommendation still stands:
Buy Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim (but not the Pearl Whites in Europe), or as a third choice buy TDK. There are other good media choices available, but it's complicated to figure out how to get the other good stuff.
