@ Alchav,

Hmm, I was expecting a SSD somewhere in there. Any plans on adding one to be your OS drive? Otherwise looks good. I like how you have a quality S-PVA Dell panel in there.

I thought about a SSD, but I wasn’t sure about the reliability, they didn’t have much of a Track Record. I also like Seagate and Western Digital HDD’s. I’m not much of a Gamer, so the speed of my HDD’s are sufficient for my needs. As for the Dell Monitor, I wanted to replace my 21" NEC CRT with a good quality LCD that complimented my Silver NZXT Case. I tend to keep my Rig set ups 5 years or more so I try to choose wisely.

SSDs nowadays are much more reliable than the first gen stuff that came out years ago. Keep in mind the NAND flash memory used in SSDs are much more reliable, faster, and generally higher densities than those offered on USB flash drives. Even a low-end SSD will be noticeably faster than most platter HDDs.

So given that, my Kingston SSD, for example, is expected to last me ~9 years with my current usage rate. That’s about as long as some of my old platter drives and definitely longer than the majority of HDDs that I’ve had that have failed.

My brother, who has a doctorate in psychology, sent me an email with “-sent from my iPad” at the end. After my reply, I put “-sent from my RagingPC, built from scratch with my son from parts procured from Newegg, Tiger Direct, and Microcenterand help from my friends at CDFreaks!”

I’m proud to be a geek and a Freak. Who’s with me?!

I bought an Acer laptop near the beginning of 2016… e5-574-57jm from Micro Center.
More of a side-grade since my desktop video card can’t output 4k video!! DOH!!
Rather than drop 2+ bills on a video card, I bought a laptop that can output 4k 30hz video via hdmi.
This is i5-6200u 2.3ghz w/ 6gb ram & 1tb hdd. I’ll assume this laptop will last at least 4 years-- so it will have paid for itself by then. If and when 4k video cards are under $110 a/r… I’ll get one, just not a priority.
