The Search For Success!

For a while now, I’ve been trying to back up my DVD collection, with varying success.

The system I have is as follows…

Processor: AMD Athlon XP3000+
DVD Drive: Sony DW-U18A 8x DVD+R 8xDVD-R 4x DVD+RW 24XCDRW IDE
Software: DVD Shrink 3.2

I started out using some bog standard DVD+R media, but if I burned quicker than x2 speed, the burn wouldn’t finish, and even at x2, some copies would complete the burn, but have errors when I tried to play them.

I’ve recently started using better quality media, (Datasafe Pro (Taiyo Yuden) 8x DVD-R). These things cost me an arm and a leg, presuming the media was the problem, and only 1 has burned successfully in 5 attempts. I would go on, but I have enough shiny frisbees now. I’ve included the error log at the bottom of this post, as apparently, it seems the thing to do on this forum?!

I am desperately seeking a setup that will work flawlessly. I appreciate this may be asking a lot, but I am happy to spend money on getting a setup that will at least be more reliable.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Is it the burner? Is it the software? I’m getting desperate!

I look forward to your suggestions!

#2

It was a lead out problem from nero log.
First I would suggest to upgrade your nero (6.6.0.xx) and also your burner firmware with UYS1.

#3

As far as software is concerned; for better compression(though slower) try Dvd Rebuilder What i usually do if its multiple movies, Rip them all to HD, and then compress them all in batch mode while i’m sleeping or at work.

#4

I’m just slow getting distracted by work dammit. What they said ^^

Ruddy magic gents!

Flashed my drive with Lite-On USON firmware, and I’m writing with Nero 6.6.0.16. Everything is working like clockwork.

You have restored my faith in forums!
