The New Best drive~?

Hey everyone, been awhile since I been on here.

I was basically wondering if there were some BenQ 1604 or 1655 floating around and if not " what is the new drive to get ".?

Thanks allot Storm~

Good question, that’s been asked a lot recently and it seems there really isn’t a good answer though some are having good results with a couple specific LiteOn drives and some are waiting for a BlueRay burner with a Nexperia chipset to come out.

Check these recent threads:

Both the BenQ 1640 and 1655 were good drives, with (from what I remember reading), the 1640 being better in several areas. You can check out the CDFreaks Bargain Basement, as I’ve seen where sometimes they will say Staples or someplace will sell an I/O Magic drive that is a rebadged drive, like a BenQ 1655 or some other kind. However, it’s hit and miss. Some people recommend a Pioneer 112D as a good burner, but if you do quality scanning, you need some kind of LiteOn drive for more reliable scanning results from KProbe2 or even CD-DVD Speed. Some of the newer Samsung offerings have impressed people, although I don’t remember seeing if a 182 in the Samsung is still available.

You can check Ebay every once in a while, but as for BenQs with the Nexperia chipset, they are mostly all gone. The newer drives I would recommend are the Samsung SH203B SATA and if you are looking for an IDE Drive I would recommend the LG H42N or any of the later ones. The new Liteons are are also good and very reasonably priced.:iagree:

How about the Sony DRU-840A? Seems like it is a Samsung and has getting some pretty good remarks.
