We’ve just posted the following news: ‘The Martian’ is the first Ultra HD Blu-ray rip ever released – AACS 2.0 cracked already?[newsimage]http://www.myce.com/wp-content/images_posts/2016/03/download-the-martian-2015-hd-torrent-95x75.jpg[/newsimage]

The release group TrollUHD appears to be first to release an Ultra HD Blu-ray rip. The release “The Martian (2015) 2160p Ultra HD Blu-ray DTS-HD MA 7.1 x264-TrollUHD.mkv” is 48.2 GB big and x264 encoded.

Its possible they took a regular 1080p rip from a normal Blu-ray and upscaled it. I’m not sure to what end except to fool people, since that would hurt visual quality of the video. Its been re-worked no matter what, since it no longer uses the H265 codec seen in Ultra HD Blu-ray. Perhaps their capture hardware/software doesn’t work with H265.

x264 and 48GB. Will be fake.

The 2160p movie web rips I have seen knocking about are 100GB big and still x265 encoded.

A disk rip of a movie should be the same.

If not then Sony has seriously released a shoddy disk as their first Ultrablu-ray.

One other possibility is a 4K camera aimed at a UHD TV muxed with Blu-ray Audio. That would produce the H264 video at the same time and may explain why the picture is not as great as expected.

highly likely to be a fake. There’s no known decrypter yet that cracked aacs v2.0, let alone a release group. I’ve never seen any release group not rely on a decryption / rip tool one way or another to release a rip.

The word “troll” appears in the filename so that doesn’t bode well for starters.

Come on, guys, you’re better than this.

TrollUHD is a legit group, despite their name.
This release is also “real”, meaning it has been captured losslessly, probably with a box like “HD Fury Integral”, and then re-encoded with x264. AACS 2.0 has nothing to do with this.

It is just a group name. TrollHD has been around for many years and TrollUHD seems to be the name this group use for 2160p releases.

Maybe this was ripped from a regular HD BRD by someone who just assumes that higher resolution gives better quality. TV and camera manufacturers have been trying to fool users with this idea ever since they coined the term “High Definition.” So, someone who has little or no expertise with video encoding would almost certainly fall into this hole.
