I've done everything in the games faq, and that their tech support has suggested, and a whole lot more.
I've tried everything, except updating my firmware. The faq's I see on "crossflashing," many of the steps involve somewhat esoteric directions and screenshots. I don't really know anything about CD drives, and are these people certified to be telling me this stuff? I'm sure they know what they're doing, but in my case, I can't afford to experiment, really.
And my drive works just fine, except for this. The games tech support and faq have suggested flashing my drive, but because that involves crossflashing, well... how safe or unsafe is this, exactly? I have experience with doing this sort of thing for computers... is it about comparable to flashing my BIOS?
Also of note, I've tried other drives, and it doesn't work on those either. A Lite-on CD-ROM and a DVD-ROM drive, in addition to my G7Z9 generic brand combo (?) drive.
I say combo (?), because the official BENQ site seems to say the 1620 isn't a combo drive, but the Nero infotool indicates it is? It doesn't TELL me it's a combo drive, I don't think it does that, but it lists CD RW and DVD RW, among other things, to make me consider it a combo drive, and thus not really a BenQ 1620.
