The Burning process ends abruptly

Hello,

I’ve burnt 100’s of cd’s with my burner and it has worked fine and now when i try to burn a cd, the burn process fails after certain time.
I use nero-6 software to burn the cd’s.when the burning process starts, the used read buffer is 100% and the buffer level is around 98% and after some time, i see the buffer level to 0% and the recorder state failed.At the top, I see invalid block address, invalid write state and then could not perform end track.All these I’ve noticed after the process has been failed.I dont have any other cd burning software installed on my box.ALso, i removed nero and then re-installed nero.The problem still holds and I lost 6 cd’s so far.

Any ideas how i can trouble shoot this one??

Posting the log would be a start (make sure you remove your serial number from the top). In addition, you could try different media - do the failures relate in any way to changing batch of media you’re using?

Key 0x05, Code 0x21 tends to be some kind of addressing error - unfortunately I can’t find Key 0x05, Code 0x21, Qual 0x08 defined anywhere.

One thing you could try is writing the discs as Disc At Once instead of Track At Once - you’re closing the disc anyway, so it won’t make any difference to the result. I tend to burn everything I can as DAO.

You’re trying to write right on the capacity limit of the media in use. The ATIP says that the lead out has to start by 79:59.70 and the disc you’re trying to burn has the lead out at 79:38.08. It might be that somehow your drive isn’t happy going so close to the end of an 80 minute disc on the media you’re using.

Some regard CMC Magnetics media as less than top quality, too.

Finally, this review indicates there’s newer firmware available than the 099C version on your CW038D drive. The CD Freaks firmware pages imply 120C is the latest - but the download link is broken.

Of course, firmware upgrading is always risky - but if your drive isn’t working properly, it’s worth a go.

Your CW038D is a rather old 16x10x40x CD-RW drive - if you keep getting problems with it, a faster replacement shouldn’t cost that much. CD-RW drives are cheap these days.

I tried to burn a re-writable cd and its working fine.But, I can only burn them with 4x speed which is kinda slow.well, I’ll try to burn using the DAO option and will let u know how it has worked out.
