The beginning of the end for DRM

Recording companies, increasingly worried about the growing power of Apple in the legal online music space and the continued proliferation of illegal file sharing are starting to toy with the idea of making MP3 downloads available for sale free of DRM restrictions.

Sell them in a lossless format and they will have won me over.

Hopefully they have finally realised that they can’t treat their customers with the contempt they have so far.

Well, I wouldn’t hold my breath. The industry isn’t showing large-scale signs of ‘getting smart’ yet.
