The Aging Effect : find out yourself

This one was burned about one and a half year ago, by my LTR-52327S (don't know why the "NO MEDIA" thingy). The speed was prolly 32X.
The disc is labeled as Esperanza Silver-Blue 40X. By the time is was very rarely used and has almost no scratches on its surface. It was kept in a dark drawer, in a slim-type case.

It's readable all-right, what was a huge surpise to me...but the numbers speak for themselves.

I'll plug in my old liteon burner and scan a few of my ancient disks.

I don't think degredation has been a problem for me, but we will see.

Scan of a >5 year old TDK 650meg disk (yes, it was that old that the disk was purchased before 700meg disks become popular). It was made by ritek.

This is scaned at 52speed, an absolutely nasty speed to be scanning stuff at, yet the scan turned out quite well.

I think this is the first disk I ever burned. Its been sitting around for so long that I had to clean the dust off it before scanning.

This is a verbatim datalifeplus 650meg scanned in the. I think it is 7 or 8 years old. It has survived time very well.

Kodak 650meg ... at least 5 years old. Still very good.

A lot of these scans are better then disks I have burnt in the last year (of course, I use a lot of really cheap cd-rs over the last year, probably way too many)

CMC disk, verbatim datalife --- 3 years old. Still extremely good, even though these disks actually sound close to exploding while reading at 52 speed

Imation CMC disk .... about 4-5 years old. This one had some balance problems, so I had to scan at 48speed as the drive (and my ears) simply couldn't handle the vibration at 52speed.

I think this would be the last one i'll post .... I could post dozens upon dozens of scans of old disks that still work well with no problems. There have been a few failures over the years, mostly due to serious damage on either the label side, or occasionally, bad scatches on the data side.
