The 2008 HDTV Technology Face Off

LCD, plasma, DLP, and LCOS enter Thunderdome. . .

To my knowledge, this has never been done before. Here we have a Face Off consisting of each of the major TV technologies. Two LCDs, two plasmas, two DLPs, and an LCOS battle for the eyes and minds of five distinguished reviewers.

An interesting read and i’m not surprised at all by the 1st and 2nd places in the tests. The Pioneer and Pansonic Plasma’s are simply stunning displays.

According to the reviewers: Plasma is still the king.

I was hoping to see Samsung plasma in the battle.

Home Theater Mag has pitted some of the top HDTV’s against each other in a be all, end all showdown to see which set reigns supreme. It’s kind of nice to see my opinion resonated in their conclusion: The Pioneer Kuro, being the set with the lowest resolution (720p) and having no 120hz technology, managed to best every other set they tested.

The results, in order:

[li]Pioneer PDP-5080HD Plasma HDTV[/li][li]Panasonic TH-50PZ750 Plasma HDTV[/li][li]Sony KDS-60A3000 SXRD HDTV[/li][li]Mitsubishi WD-57833 DLP RPTV[/li][li]JVC LT-47X898 LCD HDTV[/li][li]Sharp LC-52D64U LCD HDTV[/li][li]Samsung HL-T6187S LED DLP RPTV[/ol][/li]
*There were requirements: “The price had to be around $3,000 and the screen size as close to 50 inches as pricing would allow.”
