Testing Pioneer 107

I got a Pioneer 107 which I believe its defective. Is there any way to test the drive to see if its ok. I saw plextor as a diagnostic test for plextor drives, I was wondering is there such a thing for Pioneer drives. Also how can I reach the Pioneer rma department from Canada.
Thanks

contact the store where you purchased the drive or check the Pioneer website and email them…there isn’t any test that i know of to test the drive…need more info from you on why you think your drive is defective…describe the problem and what software and dvd media you are using…

Thanks

its not burning any media well

What does that mean?
If you are using cheap discs then this is normal.

It wont burn Tyaion Yuden either.
The drives is gone.
Thanks

have you ever flashed the drive with the latest firmware that pioneer has for the 107? i would do that before trying to RMA the drive. i am sure pioneer tech support will ask you that. just my 2 cents…

I flashed the drive to the latest Firmware 1.21.
It fails to burn any dvds, so far two bad dvds were gone
A memorex dvd+r, and a Ridate dvd-r.
I cant find the Pioneer tech support.
Thanks

I would expect a Communication Failure to be caused by the IDE cable connecting the drive or the IDE driver used on your system, not a problem with the drive itself.

I cant find the Pioneer tech support.

search is your friend…try using it…
https://www.pioneer.co.jp/support/canada_customer.html

email them…or as suggested to you so many times…return the drive to the store you got it from…for RMA a receipt isn’t necessary…call the store where you got it from to ask how to RMA to PIONEER in CANADA…

try changing your IDE CABLE…have you defragged your “C” drive before burning a dvd? if not try defragging before you burn…

Should I try using ata100 cables or ata33, I tried both and the burner still has the same problem.
Thanks

#11

try using a flat ribbon ide cable a 40 or 80 pin…supposedly using rounded ide cables don’t work well with dvd burners but i use them without a problem…if you are able to purchase new cables and if they don’t work return them to the store where ever you purchased them from.
