I'm not really a pro of CD writers, but I do know have some basic knowledge of it. I did some test on my newly bought LiteOn 52327S. It cost $350HK.
Intel BX chipset
DMA mode on
Here's my little review:
I don't know if this result is good or not since I only owned one CD writer in the past.
Burst rate test:
This should be more than enough for a 52X drive.
The tray doesn't move fast enough for me.
Is it good enough? I hope so.
The speed is VERY good. Look how fast it ends. If I have a 99mins disk, I'm sure it will faster than 54X.
The drive bundle a CD-R disk which only says "Multi-speed" but I think it can be safely burned at 52X.
The drive bundle a 24X CD-RW disk but no 32X RW disk.
I tried to disable the Smart-Burn function and burned a 16X rated CD-R at 52X speed. After using the error check in CDSpeed, it found 0 error.
The drive comes with the newly QS04 firmware which released on late June.
I have no problem while listening and ripping a copy protected pressed audio CD.
I do have problem when burning audio using a 32X rated 99mins CD-R at 52X speed, while it burned half way through, it slow down. When I look at the data side of the CD, it has 2 "zones" on it, like those burned with Z-CLV drives. It might because my drive had slow down and used different lazer power. I have no idea why it slows down and I can't play the disk on my Hi-Fi half way through the whole disk. It tried the second time and the result was the same. So I asked Nero to burn at 32X speed and it was without problem.
The Smart-Burn function won't affect CD-RW disk. In my case, I disabled Smart-Burn an try to burn a 24X disk at 32X, Nero always only allows me to burn at 24X.
