THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS TRUE 1080P CAPABLE TV. Sorry for the scream, but the misinformation surrounding this issue is maddening. There is no electrical standard for refreshing a transmission of 1920 x 1080 content. This means that all present and future tvs will be using a upconverted 1080i content until a new standard is set (and it took years to settle on 720p/1080i). And when a standard is settled, it is unlikely that current 1080p tvs will be compatible, and will still require scaling or converting. Go ahead and buy a "1080p" tv now, but don't expect to watch unconverted 1080p content in the present, and don't expect the ability to watch unconverted content in the future. People need to realize that 720p/1080i are new standard, and that 1080p is a marketing gimmick. Buy the best HDTV (720p/1080i) in your budget, and don't worry about futureproofing for a technology that is potentially a decade away (if it isn't surpassed by something else before then).
