Awful IMHO

@cvs

Thank you for your tipps. I don´t have actual an 512 here, can´t test it. IF crossflashing a big risk I dunno whether I do it.

Agreed. :iagree: I have yet to see a good burn from that brand and MID on any of my burners.

My TDK were ok if you don´t burn much >20GB, my cheap Xlyne don´t have so bad quality

It is not a big risk really. Thanks to jadburner who was kind enough to dump the firmware from his drive, I’ve now got a copy of the PT11 firmware, so now that a firmware dump exists, it is easy to go back to the original firmware should you want to do so. Crossflashing to iHBS112 doesn’t require any EEPROM adjustment, so it is as easy as flashing the drive with an iHBS112 PL0x firmware using the unlocked flasher method.

Incidentally the PT11, dated 2012/12/05, is newer than the other existing iHBS112 (and Plextor clones) firmwares by about 2-3 months. Here’s a copy of the firmware in case someone wants/needs it: http://www65.zippyshare.com/v/73395471/file.html

Thank you :slight_smile:

Is it possible to see the differences between Liteon and Teac-FW? Maybe the Teac have newer date but I can´t believe Teac made some changes by it´s own

I’m sure its possible, but that would be an ala42 type of job :slight_smile:

TEAC had basically nothing to do with producing the firmware. Once they made the rebadging deal with LiteON, they would have basically received a customised firmware straight from LiteON. Presumably what LiteON have done in firmware rebranding terms was to use one of their latest stable firmwares for the iHBS112 and rename the drive ID from the typical iHBS112 drive ID string to the TEAC drive ID string. It would have taken them about 5 minutes to do it basically :wink:

#28

Think so :wink:

I remember the time TEAC had very good own drives, long life included. But TEAC started to sleep, the time many guys want a writer for CloneCD, TEAC ignored them and almost nobody recommend them.

Long time ago
