TDK media anomalies

Hi.

I recently performed tests of 3 TDK medias (ALL manufactured by TDK, probably in Europe) on LiteOn 40x@48x and I got quite strange results…

TDK Ultra-reflex-x, certified: 24x, rec time: 2 min 40 sec
TDK D-view, certified: 24x, rec time: 2 min 49 sec
TDK D-view, certified: 48x, rec time: 2 min 59 sec

Burn quality is identical 99.89% or 100% on every media.

It looks that new media is “worse”/slower than old one…

Test conditions.
BIOS: VS02
Record mode: Mode1
Recorded amount of data: 693 MB

Regards,
AbrahaM

Some of the TDK crap is made by ritek, which one of the worst manufacturers around

Results doesnt surprise me :stuck_out_tongue:

I disagree, max_clif. Ritek used to have serious problems, but in the last several months their quality has been very good. All of the TDK-Ritek discs I have burned have had no significant problems. TDK and TY are the only brands I usually buy.

Write time may vary a bit from disc to disc due to disc conditions.

Are you sure that they are MUNUFACTURED by TDK?

Do all have the same ATIP?

Same conditions: amonunt of data, os, ETC

All discs have same ATIP:
This Disc is designed for CD-RW/COMBO Drive Only.
Disc Type, Material = CD-R, Phthalocyanine
ATIP Lead-in = 97m 15s 05f
Norminal Capacity = 702.83MB (79m 59s 74f)
Disc Manufacturer maybe = TDK M-dye
SMART-BURN Speed Limit = 48X

as you can see they ARE manufactured by TDK

Test was performed several times to avoid accidental anomalies caused i.e. by bad dics etc.

This Disc is designed for CD-RW/COMBO Drive Only.
Disc Type, Material = CD-R, Cyanine
ATIP Lead-in = 97m 15s 01f
Norminal Capacity = 702.83MB (79m 59s 74f)
Disc Manufacturer maybe = TDK
SMART-BURN Speed Limit = 24X

you are lucky I bought some tdk ultra reflex x metallic and they are limited to their speed limit which is 24x.
And my Ty are limited to 40, never got any for 48*. What should I buy in spindle in europe to get 48*; I tought about the maxell?
