What software did you use for those burns? Not Nero 6 I hope? Nero 6 has a problem where it screws up the layer break somewhat and so is not recommended for DL burning. DVD Decrypter or Imgburn is better for that. Nero 7 is ok, but many people still avoid it due to the various bugs in it.

I used ImgBurn 1.1.0.0.
Apparently the layer break is an issue with decent media too :sad: :

same here, a big spike at the layer break. i’ve used imgburn 1.1.0.0. this spike is similar on every dl-burn i’ve made so far. i’ve used my pio @ 2.4x.

(1st scan is original, 2nd after removing the two biggest spikes, 3rd is the same disc scanned with cd-dvd speed 4.11)




And that’s w/ a LITE-ON burner, right?
So it doesn’t seem to be a burner issue (mine are a BenQ and a NEC as stated and as per my sig), therefore should I consider it normal behavious w/ DL discs?
Does it impact the disc longevity?
Any known workarounds (different burning apps myabe)?

dunno. i’ve burned 3 disks of this media (mid:mkm001) so far, layer break seems to be always an issue during the burn process. although, considering i’ve done 3 dl-burns till now, i’d might be the wrong person to ask :wink:

Most of those burns look fine. if I saw a big PIF spike I would be concerned. The only burn I see that looks questionable is the one from the nec drive.
