My money is on “Fakie” :bigsmile: with a name like Smart…

I think I know these discs. I’ve seen them on sale before and examined the packaging closely. Do they look something like this :

If so then they are the same stuff I have seen then and are fake TYs. The packaging isn’t always the same but it is always very colourful with various cartoon type characters printed on it. Look very carefully at the packaging and you will see “Made in Hong Kong” printed on it somewhere.

For a final confirmation, post the series of numbers Arachne suggested.

If this is the same stuff, you’ll be smart to stay far away from these discs.

:disagree: The “made in japan” mention can easily be faked, you know :wink:

Only way to tell for sure is to examine the stampercode and serial numbers.

A while back we can find a real YUDEN000T02 under Sony/Fujifilm brand for $15/50pack = 30 cents per disk. :slight_smile:

Right now the 8x +R T02’s are about $42 shipped for 100 in cakeboxes from www.rima.com - $ .42 each - and we [B]know[/B] that these are not Fakies-eh!

True, but in this case I think the OP is going to find a certain “Made in Hong Kong” printed on the packaging. I don’t think anybody can be bothered to fake that :slight_smile:

Btw, I’ve run across another insidious brand of fake TYs that went through so much trouble to make the discs look like they are Japanese that the packaging was full of Japanese words. They even went through the trouble of registering a Japanese domain name so they could put www.xxxx.jp on the packaging. The dead giveaway was that the domain name was xxxx.jp rather than the usual xxxx.co.jp. Upon checking, the domain name was found to be registered to a Hong Kong company. If you looked very carefully at the packaging (which appeared to have been well printed and sealed) though, you could still find the usual “Made in Hong Kong” printed in a small corner.

Fake ( Made In XXX ) is not common , but yes , to be [B]absolutely[/B] sure of genuine TY , it must be :

1- MIJ
2-Known brand : Sony , FUJI or Panasonic
3-The discs must have TY serial on the inner hub .
