Taiyo Yuden DVD+R

I burned 100 discs with the iHAS124 B and 10 discs with the iHAS124 C. I used the iHAS124 B for more scans than the iHAS124 C, but I don’t think there is a laser issue here.

The Asus (LG) beat the LiteOn clearly, but not sure if it only depend on the writer. The cluster looks like a media-problem because the most of the burn looks fiarly good

The discs from the last spindle I am using have proved not very consistent in quality but regardless of this I strongly believe that the Asus is a much better writer than the LiteOn. It’s probably not worth the trouble to try for better results from the LiteOn.

Yeah, sometimes I still wonder about LG. LG was in the past known for not good FW-support while LiteOn often update their FW. LiteOn uses MTK-chipsets since the CD-RW-drive LTR-12102B in year 2000.

LG start AFAIK with MTK-chipsets in 2011 with the GH22NS90/GH24NS90 and offered out of the box a better writing quality than LiteOn in all the years and with many FWs

I guess the Samsung are the last drives which support 4x on 16x-media

I think the SH-S223C burns some of these discs better at 4x than the DRW-24D5MT at 8x. I just hope I won’t see the same variation in quality in the spindle I am about to open.

I think the other Samsung will be similar, but TBH, I never burned deliberately a 16x TY at 4x

Some discs in this spindle did not burn particularly well with the DRW-24D5MT. This is the first spindle I had with this problem and I still have a few more unopened.
