Swapping drives on a Primera Bravo?

I have one of the earlier versions of the Bravo with the Pioneer DVR-104 installed. Performance is fine, though it would be nice to be able to burn at 4x rather than 2x.

Has anyone tried swapping out the drive on the Bravo for a different drive? I’m thinking of either a newer Pioneer (they used up to the 106) or perhaps a Plextor.

Did you ever swap drives?

I want to do the same thing with a Primera Bravo Disc Publisher. The drive is a Pioneer DVR-105 version 1.33. I’ve taken it apart and put back together with no problems.

The problem with it is that it will no longer burn DVD’s.

Both OLD drives.

Time to buy new ones, I think.
