SVCD to DVD Problem

vbimport

#1

I’ve been trying to convert some SVCD mpegs into dvd format with divxtodvd. The original format is in PAL, so I need to force ntsc so it can work on my dvd player. Whenever I force ntsc The file will either stop about halfway through it, or the green bar will fill all the way up, but I won’t get a completed message, and the only file in the folder is a vob, that is undersized.

This is my Crash.log file

It looks like from the warning and error it is a problem with the frame rates not matching or something?

I’ve tried to also use dvdsanta v4.00 and I get a different kind of error message saying unsupported audio stream. I’ve talked to a couple of people and they seemed to think it was either a codec issue, or a RIFF issue. I have the k-lite full codec pack. I’ve also tried to convert the mpeg to mpeg using vcdgear, and I’ve used vcdeasy to try to convert the mpeg (.dat) to a true .mpeg file (under mpeg tools) and that doesn’t seem to help either.

Just to add a little more. When I try to convert it in PAL mode it works fine, also I can convert VCD and Divx to DVD no problem using ntsc format.

thanks.

Try burning the one converted in PAL mode to a DVD RW, and see if it plays on your standalone player. I have never had a problem playing them back on my Pioneer DVD player and NTSC TV.

I would try as “strachan” stated. Alot of dvd players will play either format. If not converting can cause a/v sync problems by changing the frame-rate. IMO the best way to convert is to de-mux the video and audio into 2 seperate file, encode the video to NTSC then multiplex the video and audio together.
