I have a pc in my lounge which is networked to my main pc up stairs. The pc in the lounge is connected to my flat screen telly! I am thinking about getting a surround sound card for it so I can watch the dvds via streaming from the pc upstairs. Though I cant find a card that supports 3.1 (my prefered choice) will a 5.1 be ok if I use just 2 & 1 sub woofer (like the Bose system).

Computer card usualy lets you choose number of speakers, so you should be OK.

Certainly agree - you should be able to select among a variety of cofigurations.

I have spoken to Bose. They tell me if I get a sound card with an optical output port and the card is capable of DTS (Dolby Digital) I can hear the surround sound via the bose 321 vitual surround system. Is there a card that can support this??

First of all, DTS is not Dolby Digital.
They are two different companies involved in this type of sound encoding.
For Sound card, just go on web and search. I know new once have an optical IN/OUT.

Okay, what you need is an app that will enhance the sound DRAMATICALLY
I can’t believe no-one mentioned:

(silence)
(drumroll)…
DFX Audio enhancer…this app will blow you away in sound clarity…
It even has ((((3D surround sound))))) feature which kicks ass…
