One wonders. How the heck can it NOT affect the audio. Whether it's in a frequency range you can hear or not it's still distorting the signal and could have a knock on effect on other frequencies. Would you be able to look at the frequency in a frequency analyzer and find out which frequencies are affected and could you write something that just looks for those frequencies and filter them out?
I really cannot see how this will work anyhow. If you can hear something you should be able to record it. All that you would need to do is make some software that impersonates the way the human ear hears the sounds and re-interprets that as a digital output if it's that complex surely?
