Suit alleges Disney, other top sites spied on users

A lawsuit filed in federal court last week alleges that a group of well-known Web sites, including those owned by Disney, Warner Bros. Records, and Demand Media, broke the law by secretly tracking the Web movements of their users, including children.

Wow, somebody finally figured out that sometimes they use cookies to track you, who’d have thunk it…
I usually have my security settings to ask me on new sites so I can decide if the things are OK before I let them in.
Most folks wouldn’t have a clue how to do that and never know they are silently loading up on all kinds of cookies that keep track of at least when you visit if not much more.
Sites I trust once it asks I tell it to do the same thing every time and it quits nagging me, others I’d rather get the nag screens first.
Maybe this will force them to be more up front so regular users know what’s really going on and get a bit more proactive…

I want to know who ratted them out…Google?
