Suggestions for a DVD writer?

After the last two (Optorite DD0203 and Samsung SH-S182M) turned out to be bad choices, I’m hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

I need an internal IDE (no SATA ports) writer, preferably dual-layer. I had also given some thought to Lightscribe, but am not too concerned about that (does Lightscribe DL media even exist?).

Computer specs:
Windows XP Pro
AMD Athlon XP 2500+ 1.83 GHz

The ones that I’ve heard the best things about are the Lite-On LH-20A1H, LG GSAH22N, Pioneer DVR-112D, and NEC ND-2550A. I’m just not sure which would be the best choice.

Welcome to the forum

Sorry your Sammy experience wasn’t good, I’m pretty fond of mine.

Anyways…LG make good drives, might want to look into those.

my sammys growing on me i just got but if u had bad experience with em get an LG or LiteOn

I have a LH-20A1P and a GSA-H22N. Both are excellent drives.
If I had to choose one of these two, I would go for the Liteon
because it has better media support, more frequent firmware
updates and it supports quality scanning.

I don’t have a DVR-112D, but they usually get rave reviews
on these forums. Read the reviews and then make your choice.

Welcome to CD Freaks.

Yeah, the LiteOn drive is a good choice also, and is good at DL burning too
