I'm planning to rip my box set of Damages season 1, either as DVD format or xvid ( havent decided yet). for watching on TV via DVD player
I'm doing it to remove the annoying " you wouldn't steal a car" crap which plays every time I insert a DVD & which must be the most annoying start ever invented - and also to remove the awkward menu structure & just run the episodes into each other.
But DVDfab is telling me it can see 3 english subpictures, & I'm having trouble figuring which I should use.
in my dvdplayer I see only 2 english subtitles choices - regular & something called SDH, but DVD fab just calls them all english, & if I rip to xvid & want the subtitles directly rendered than I have to pick only 1 stream.
Other than ripping a chapter 3 times, one for each subpicture option - is there any way to predict which one is best.
(actually I just realised it's 3 choices only for the pilot episode, only 2 choices for the other titles as per the screenshot, so I guess one of the three could be some kind of directors commentary)
the math is doing my head in also, it would be great to have a spreadsheet into which you could put number of episodes, length of episodes, how many output DVDs you want to use etc & have it output recommended settings .
in this case there a 13 episodes, with the 1st one begin longer than the others. & so I'd go for 1-6 , then 7-13 in xvid format for 2 x SL or 1 x DL DVD playable in a divx capable player. IF I go with 720x412 resolution, the total will be slightly too lrage, I think DVDfab is proposing 640x336 but maybe I could get away with somehying a bit higher ?
