this is no study; merely a summary of the defect management techniques in use on DVD drives and media. And yes, they are trying to promote DVD-RAM to the masses, big-time. Would be interesting to see results of real-world scenarios regarding data and media longevity that they suggest as being inadequate. Hopefully via an unbiased third party, since my knowledge of the intricacies of the formats is close to nil. I for one would prefer if more drives wrote to DVD-RAM, for those that want it. It still has unique qualities that others don't, the problem is it just isn't as popular, which they are trying to change. Will RAM media ever match the prices we see with +-RW tho?
