Stuck on which to buy? [DVD Burner]

Sup all, well i’m finally giving in and gonna buy a dvd burner  I’ve personally decided to wait because when the drives came out i knew that they would get faster and cheaper. I guess for me its finally hit that point. Anyway I’ve come to these burners but have no clue which one would be the best choice. These are the prices that i can get them for in CAD. They are all the same speed but man am i confused on which one i should get? Or should i wait for like 20x DVD burners to come out?

BenQ DW1620 16x DVD+/-RW + Dual Layer $77
NEC ND-3500A 16x4x / 16x4x DVD+/-RW Dual Layer $77

LiteOn SOHW-1633S 16x DVD+/-RW + Dual Layer $81
LG GSA-4163B 16x DVD+/-RW $90
Pioneer DVR-108 16X DVD+/-RW Dual Layer $95

Any of these 2 simply because they are the best on the market just now…
BTW there is a newer NEC drive out (3520A) than the one you posted…

can the nec 3500a be firmware hacked to the 3520a?

No it cant …

What are you gonna use it for??

I would go for the LG GSA-4163B because it can read and write (as the only one) to DVD-RAM, but if you’re not gonna use it … I would say:

  1. LG GSA4163B (DVD-RAM support and good quick burns, check out the LG forum)
  2. BenQ1620 Pro
  3. NEC ND-2530A
  4. Pioneer DVR-109 (available within 2 weeks if I’m correct)
  5. Lite-On SOHW-1673S

The benq is the closeest think out their to the complete package. I own a nec 3500 but if I were to buy a burner right now it would be the 1620. See the following 2 reviews:

nec 3500a or the benq are both great choices, you cant really go wrong either way
