So all of a sudden, the color is way off on my monitor. I eventually realize that the red channel is completlly gone, so my monitor is dead. It's 5 years old, so no big deal, get another one (kind of broke cause I just bought a digital camera and a bunch of stuff for it, but thats life). So The next day my wife picks up a bag that happens to be siting on my kvm switch and it changes. Red is back but everything has a strong pink color cast. So I'm thinking maybe a bad conector or cable, maybe I can fix that, if not, get a new monitor.
Now for the weird part. I play some video, and the color is dead on (inside the window that is playing the video, the player still has a color cast). I just realized that the blue windows bar is fine if it is in front, but if the window is not the active one, it's got the color cast? I don't mind buying a new monitor but if the monitor is dead, why did the video look fine? By the way this monitor is hooked up to more than one computer through a kvm switch, and it happens with all computers, so that kind of rules out anything in the computer.
Any ideas, maybe a virus? MAybe only select color channels are gone (but why did it change when the cable/kvm got slightlly disturbed)?
Ok now it is not doing it on the other computer, so it's got to be the kvm switch or cabels, right? Could a bad cable cause that?
S I changed to a new cable and changed channels (on the kvm switch) for the computer that is still having problems, and it didn't help. Now I'm getting really confused?
