Storing Software

Whats the best way to store your DVDs and CDs?
I live in one of those hot and humid areas.(SW Florida)
My once valuable VCR collection has slowly deteriorated in playback quality over the years. Both original factory recorded, and self recorded tapes have suffered.
As my movie DVD and gaming media grow, I fear they may experience the same process.
Really need a plan.

A Dry, Dark place is best.

Heh, easy when I lived in your neck of the woods.
Dry is difficult to find in SW Florida.
Actually hoped to see what particular solutions people at this forum have found to work.
The problem is most likely my age. I’m old enough to have amassed a nice vid tape collection, only to watch it deteriorate over the years.
Most of the forum members here, are likely of the CD/DVD generation.
DVD movies havn’t really been on the scene long enough to show significant change over time. With the exception of the more fragile copied material, of course.
The only solution I’ve come across (longevity forum) is much like your own. A “well sealed wooden box.”
I’m going to check around the www. If I find what I think is a very good Idea for all of us, I’ll post here again.
