Looking at your other threads, it seems as though we still don't know what type of TV system this film is made for. Regardless where you bought it, the most important thing is to find out whether it is an NTSC (USA) or PAL (UK) recording. Also of relevance is the region playback restriction set on the disc.
GSpot is a small utility that can be used to find this out, but if you can't manage to use that then a simpler way could be to use DVD Decrypter (download: http://www.dvddecrypter.org.uk/).
Put the movie in the PC DVD drive, then start DVD Decrypter. Make sure it is set to 'IFO' mode' as in the picture below. Then look in the two highlighted areas: the 'stream processing' tab on the right for the PAL/NTSC information, and then on the left for the regions that the DVD can be played back on.
