Hi all, is this forum just for movies or also for PC games backup?I use Alcohol 129 for backing up games, but my problem is now, how can I copy a game without the STEAM installer etc ?
if the games require steam to run there is not much you can really do to avoid steam.
but steam does have it's own way to backup game data so if your game install somehow gets corrupted etc etc then you can use the backup to restore the game instead of having to re-download all the game data from scratch.
Please don't crosspost ianbraddon. Your post in the Alcohol forum is actually in the wrong thread and it may be closed. We don't allow more than one thread on the same subject in different forums.
And in any case, NBR's response is on the mark here.
Can anyone explain how to make a copy of Steam games, eg, Empire total wars or F.E.A.R 2 that are Steam installed from the disc? I want to back up the game without the Steam installer etc?
Thanks NBR, there must be a way to do this, as many of these games are on "certain pirate sites" and have been ripped of this Steam installer. Strange to me. I would have thought would have have been a major issue and topic at this website?
Sorry, Kerry56, I am still trying to work out where I can ask my question, eg which category to post.
merged another thread that is related to this one (#4 in this case...so the order may appear odd now)
There is no legal way to achieve that - therefore it's no issue/topic at all at cdfreaks.
It's possible to make a backup as stated by NBR:http://supportwiki.steampowered.com/wiki/Using_the_Steam_Backup_Feature
