StarForce

Hey everybody!

I am kind of confused about StarForce Protection! I have a CD (Star Force Protected!!!) where the whole protection runs by a *.dll - so far so good! I wonder if it’s possible to decompile such a dll and skip all the damn CD testing stuff… However - I didn’t find a good decompiler for Pascal yet (this dll “seems” (!!!) to be written in pascal). DeDe doesn’t work (exception) on it. Any other ideas? However, is there already a new way to crack this protection or is it still “up”?

Thank you all!

P.S.: I’ve just found a pretty interessting site - but it’s russian. Maybe somebody of you can understand (or even translate it) - at least it seems important. If you do speak russian have a look at http://www.reversing.net/articles/122001/sf-cossacks.htm

P.S.: If anybody does know a decompiler for pascal (beside DeDe) please send a link… I think it’s worth a try to edit this *.dll file…

Hmmm… weird translation… probably done by Babelfish or one of the other translators available on the internet…

To me it seems that the damn link is broken anyway!?!

So nobody knows a decompiler for Pascal besides DeDe? Where can I get more information about decompiler? Need 'em good, need 'em fast!

Thx

starforce isnt just another random protection.
And it isnt just a dll either…

Most of the code is executed inside their Virtual Machine / Interpreter.

hmmm interesting article … cannot understand the entire text but the main story is clear to me !

tough protection if this is true !

Cheers…
